About David

David is a leader and teacher in his church, St. Luke’s United Methodist Church, where he and his wife, Rebecca Palmer, have attended since they met there and were married nearly 30 years ago.

As a resident of the City of Southside place since 1986, David has served his community in a civic leadership and volunteer capacity on the Southside Place Park Board, the Southside Place Men’s Civic Club, and was elected to three two year terms as a City Councilman. During his term on City Council, our city was able to pay off its bonds to become debt-free and the groundwork was laid for the later beautification of Bellaire Boulevard in the City of Southside Place.

David and Rebecca also started and perform volunteer services and free educational and vocational resources support through a small non-profit company, The GED Coach, which serves the Houston homeless population through established local area shelters such as the Covenant House and the Star of Hope Mission.

David’s work experience includes 11 years in the corporate finance department of oilfield services industry giant Baker Hughes, working in treasury, financial reporting, accounting and other finance positions. A Texas Certified Public Accountant for over 30 years, he has also held senior management positions in small privately-held technology driven companies and for the past 15 years has run a small public accounting practice specializing in business valuation appraisals and related consulting.

David’s educational background began with an undergraduate degree with honors at the University of Tennessee in Biochemistry/Cellular Biology followed by a Masters in Business Administration from Vanderbilt University.
